Instant Malpua / Shahi Suji Baked Malpua/How to make a dessert tastes like Gulab Jamun
Shahi Suji Baked Malpua is a shahi dessert that tastes like a bit Gulab Jamun but looks like Malpua and yet healthy version.
Shahi word is normally added in a dish when the dish tastes rich with ingredients like nuts, saffron and while eating you will feel like a king...
Normally, malpua is prepared with all-purpose flour and deep-fried or sometimes shallow fry. In this recipe I tried a healthy version with Suji as the main ingredient. Suji/Rawa/Semolina is very healthy, especially for kids.
Semolina is high in protein and fibre — both of which slow digestion and increase feelings of fullness between meals. ..
With the benefits of Semolina nowadays it is widely used in a variety of dishes.
Let us start with
Ingredients:
Malpua
- 1/2 bowl suji/rawa/semolina
- 2 Tbsp curd
- 3-4 Tbsp milk
- few chopped almonds
- 1/2 tsp ghee
- 1/2 tsp Eno(fruit salt)/ 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
For sugar Syrup
- 1 bowl sugar
- 1 bowl of water
- few saffron threads
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
- few pistachios
Methods:
Serving:7-8 small malpuas
Sugar Syrup

- First transfer suji in a mixing bowl and add curd.
- Mix it and keep it aside for at least 10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, add first 3 Tbsp milk. Mix it
- If the batter is very thick at more milk.
- Now add cardamom powder, chopped almonds and ghee.

- Now Grease appam pan and keep the pan on low flame.
- Lastly, when the pan is hot enough then add Eno in the batter.
- With a spoon fill the cavity with suji batter.
- Cover it, after 1 minute, check the small malpuas, and turn all so that all will bake properly.
- When all baked, transfer all in sugar syrup and keep in syrup for 1 -2 minutes.
